  RECIFE

The old and the modern are everywhere. Skyscrapers and wide avenues are together with narrow streets and its Portuguese stones, squares, abbeys and churches. The traditional "frevo" and "maracatu" rhythms come together with the "mangue beat" movement. The city has its roots in a small fisherman village and turned out to be the headquarter of the Dutch government in Brazil. However, the bridges, streams and makes Recife famous as the "Brazilian Venice". Overstatement? It could be, but its 39 bridges, to only talk about the city centre, cross over 50 canals and rivers, such as the famous Capibaribe, Beberibe and Jaboatão. The land of frevo and maracatu beats, Recife has the biggest street carnival in the world and is famous for being a very pleasant place. It takes us back to Amsterdam times When "Maurício de Nassau" brought a whole beer plant to Brazil and had memorable parties. At least at this point Recife has not changed; it has only been updated. It preserves the "flamenco craziness" in a sunny Venetian scenery, with lots of cachaça (sugar cane brandy) and bean broth.
