The main attraction of the state of "Mato
Grosso do Sul" is the "Pantanal", which is a typical Brazilian
swamp. We can appreciate it by taking part in guided tours and so sighting its
famous flora with crocodiles, birds like the "Tuiuiú" and the
legendary "Onça-pintada" (type of jaguar). |
Its protector – the
"pantaneiro" – is a kind of peon who leads the cattle to slaughter
blowing the "berrante", which is a type of wind instrument made of
horn, in long journeys that take weeks, "chatting" with the cattle
through whistles and moos. "Mato Grosso do Sul" also has "the
city of the red land" – Campo Grande", its capital – which is
composed of Indians, Bolivians, Paraguayans, in conclusion, half-castes. Its the
main gateway to the "Pantanal", but we also have the city of
"Bonito" (beautiful). The name is not by chance, since the tourists
hardly ever do not fall in love with the "Gruta da Lagoa Azul", which
is a cave crossed by rivers where one can go to unforgettable rides in small
boats.
