"Minas Gerais" has in its capital – Belo Horizonte – a city which matches the cultural features and a busy night life typical of a metropolis with the attractiveness of the characteristic tranquillity of the state.
The nicknamed "Belô" started being set by
a mountain range at the end of the last century when was planned to substitute
the former capital "Ouro Preto". The city of Ouro Preto, even today,
keeps through historical architecture and relics part of the history and
colonial art. It is worth knowing its museums and antique churches. It is
located only 96 kilometres from Belo Horizonte and is also known for its
festivals such as Carnival, Holy Week and Winter Festival.
