"Bahia de Todos os Santos", with its 56 islands, is a
singular show, today mentioned in the international nautical calendar. Every
year a growing number of marine cruises are arriving in Salvador, the capital of
the State and the first capital of Brazil. Each narrow street, each slope made
of round stones of the old City of Salvador take the visitor back to the
colonial past, when the Portuguese settlers built the Historical Center, the
biggest Baroque architectural group in Latin America, declared by the Unesco as
a Patrimony of the Humanity. New tourist spots have appeared to be added to so
many others, for example the thematic parks of Abaeté, Pituaçu, Blue Costa,
"Parque das Esculturas de Solar do Unhão"; aquatic parks, besides the
four centennial fortifications open to public visitation. In the north of
Salvador we have an eye-catching area from the "Costa dos Coqueiros"
beach until "Mangue Seco" beach, and in the south we have the
"Costa do Dendê" beach with "São Paulo's" Hill. Ilhéus,
the "Costa do Cacau" (a coast full of cocoa trees) with their history
and their entertainments; and the "Costa da Baleias", where the "Parque
Nacional Marinho de Abrolhos" (a national marine park) is located, is an
area of reproduction of whales. Besides the coast, the coutryside of Bahia
presents, as a tourist option, the mountains of the "Chapada Diamantina",
with crystalline small streams, waterfalls, caves and legends; and towards west,
with their valleys, rivers and plateaus, the new frontier of the tourism. Bahia
is the Earth of Happiness. If you want to be happy, come to visit us.
